Chief Financial Officer
We are partnering with a mid-market private equity backed commercial construction organization seeking a Chief Financial Officer.
The Chief Financial Officer will lead all finance, accounting, and banking activities across the organization. He/she will be responsible for driving the company’s financing activities and helping the CEO drive growth, profitability, cash flow generation, and equity value creation. The CFO will act as a key thought partner to the CEO, the board, and other members of the executive team. The CFO will be responsible for leading a corporate finance organization capable of supporting the company’s businesses and the ability to scale organically and through acquisition.
CFO will assume overall leadership of the day-to-day financial and control operations of the company, including accurate and timely financial reporting to the board, lenders, and internal constituents, planning and analysis, accounting, internal controls, financial policy development, budgeting and modeling, audit, tax, strategic investment, credit, compliance, and integration of business systems.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the CEO to drive growth in sales, EBITDA, and profits, aligned with the annual fiscal budget.
- Optimize enterprise value by structuring the company effectively and assisting with investment exit strategies.
- Act as a strategic partner, diving into details, and offering recommendations to enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
- Provide comprehensive reporting, analytics, and financial support for both daily operations and strategic objectives.
- Foster a culture of financial awareness across the executive team and throughout the company by creating financial and operational metrics (e.g., working capital, CAPEX, liquidity, tax positions, debt reduction) to identify root causes and solutions.
- Lead financial processes related to acquisitions and ensure seamless integration.
- Develop and manage investment models to evaluate new business opportunities and potential acquisitions.
- Effectively integrate acquisitions to uncover, drive, and monitor both short-term and long-term cost savings and revenue opportunities across the organization.
- Support the board and private equity sponsor.
- Serve as the primary contact with lenders, managing the requirements of operating in a leveraged environment.
- Demonstrate expertise in credit documentation.
- Manage lending relationships, respond to lender inquiries, and participate in financial negotiations.
- Oversee cash flow management in compliance with loan terms.
- Act as the primary legal, tax, and regulatory lead for the company.
- Support the development and management of the annual fiscal budget.
- Oversee the annual budgeting process and provide regular visibility for each business unit, aligning long-term strategic goals with short-term financial responsibilities.
Critical Success Factors:
- Build strong rapport and trust with the CEO, senior team, suppliers, and PE firm; establish a visible and positive presence. Become a valued business partner to the CEO and PE sponsor.
- Demonstrate the ability to earn and maintain a healthy following within the organization. The CEO and staff are focused on fostering a high-energy, positive culture.
- Drive business results by identifying opportunities and trends, as well as potential issues, shortfalls, and risks; serve as a vocal advisor and value-added leader.
- Exhibit enthusiasm for tackling large challenges and driving them to resolution in a private equity, turnaround environment requiring a strong work ethic and willingness to get hands-on.
- Create excellent financial presentations and KPI dashboards, and effectively present the business to employees and potential buyers.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record as a VP of Finance/FP&A or CFO for a PE-owned manufacturing business.
- Positive and collaborative team player, yet confident, value-adding, outspoken, and credible.
- Over 10 years of experience.
- Experience in construction, professional services, or industrial sectors is a plus.
- M&A experience is advantageous.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is a plus.
- MBA is desirable.
