I am working with Private Equity owned multi-site / multi-state landscaping organization that is seeking a CIO. This organization has had tremendous growth over the past several years and will continue to to expand their operations organically and through additional acquisitions.

The CIO will be responsible for leading the strategic and tactical technological direction for the company; ensuring the delivery of focused transaction processing systems that will enable the growth of the company while driving down costs through the use of contemporary hardware/virtual strategies and maintaining a stable, high availability environment. This role will require an executive who is capable of forming a strategic vision for a unified and integrated IT department and bringing it into reality in a timely manner. The first key project will be to work with Project Managers to lead the design and implementation of a new ERP system and serve as the company system expert while also developing functional area super users.

Reporting to the CFO/CEO (TBD), the CIO will lead and develop a geographically dispersed team of ERP users and will be responsible for ERP system integrations on newly acquired companies. . As a member of the management team, the CIO will partner with the CFO, the management team, and operating leaders in managing the company’s ongoing evolution and growth. This CIO will ensure that the company is a technology leader in its space delivering differentiated value to internal and external stakeholders alike.

This organization has plans for future acquisitions and it will be important that this person can integrate additional acquisitions into. It will be critical for the CIO to inform the company’s short and long-term strategies, ensuring that all IT offerings are working in synergy with the overarching business planning and objectives. He/she must manage the technical vision of the company and lead the implementation of that vision by continuing to build a well-defined technical plan that is both achievable and growth oriented. In addition, the CIO will be responsible for developing plans, policies and standards for acquiring, implementing and operating IT systems and other technology assets.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a hands-on expert in ERP and business systems intelligence within a manufacturing and distribution setting. Design, develop, troubleshoot, and optimize system capabilities and processes, create complex business-required reports, and mentor super users across business functions to ensure efficient system usage.
  • Integrate acquisition systems to unify and optimize IT frameworks across multiple entities.
  • Provide strategic IT leadership with a strong focus on measurable business outcomes, including revenue growth, profitability, market share, customer service, and cost management. Direct experience with IT planning and budget management is essential.
  • Recruit, motivate, and develop a top-notch team to meet company needs. Lead a talented, flexible, responsive world-class systems organization that is customer-oriented and exceptionally responsive.
  • Implement and operationalize IT processes company-wide. Evaluate when to develop new solutions versus adopting existing packages. Streamline the enterprise application suite to enhance functionality, eliminate redundancies, and reduce costs.
  • Lead technology integration for multiple acquisitions, with a focus on add-on integrations.
  • Establish credibility as a proactive senior leader and change agent by demonstrating a solid understanding of business objectives and goals.
  • Oversee the deployment of company-wide technology standards for both applications and infrastructure. Ensure compliance with corporate policies and standards to maximize effectiveness and minimize costs in IT acquisition, implementation, and operation.
  • Upgrade infrastructure to support critical operational systems and develop an active management platform for real-time communication and data access for field representatives, including VoIP integration.
  • Manage the company’s network infrastructure, ensuring security, regulatory compliance, and disaster recovery capabilities. Secure all proprietary data and maintain comprehensive backup systems.
  • Evaluate, select, and implement new technologies to support the company, including mobile and imaging technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance revenue or reduce costs by balancing internal and external IT resources effectively.

Qualifications:

  • At least fifteen years of hands-on experience with ERP systems development, CRM, and other Business Intelligence systems. Experience with IFS is desirable.
  • Minimum of five years managing IT service providers.
  • Experience in integrating IT platforms of acquired companies into a cohesive system is highly valuable given potential future acquisition activities.
  • Proven ability to build IT teams that can execute efficiently while aligning with senior management’s vision. Skilled in balancing onshore and offshore resources to maximize ROI.
  • Prior experience with ERP system selection and implementation, especially with CRM systems like Salesforce.com, and Office 365 is preferred.
  • Experience in software development management is preferred. Knowledge of security and control frameworks such as SSAE 16, ISO 17799, COBIT, COSO, and ITIL is essential.
