Job Purpose: The Manager of Electrical/SW Engineering has responsibility for planning, designing, and executing Electrical – SW Engineering activities for medical instrumentation and IT mounting solutions from concept to launch, according to the company’s product roadmap. This position will be responsible for coordinating Engineering development activities with a focus on Electrical/SW projects across internal and external stakeholders and service providers, to ensure new products are developed on-time and within budget and meet product and quality requirements.


The individual will possess a broad range of product development of Electronics/SW development experience, a record of leading Engineering teams from product concept through engineering development, qualification, design transfer and commercialization launch. As a key member of the Engineering Leadership Team, this individual will promote and drive innovation and excellence through cross-functional collaboration.

Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to: ..

  • Lead Electrical/SW Engineering team and providing a structured approach to New Product Development with an eye for compliance with the QMS and established NPD processes.
  • Assign Mechanical, Electro-mechanical, Software and Firmware Engineers to Company Engineering projects and efforts.
  • Manage outside Electrical, PCB Design, and Firmware Engineering contractors through project assignment, invoice review, approval and cost tracking.
  • Lead brainstorming and design reviews; create design concepts and technology for new products or improvements to existing products.
  • Support Company Sales and Marketing groups with product questions, customer concerns and feedback, new product/option requests and product compatibility and configurations.
  • Actively demonstrate concepts and eliminate technical risks through rapid prototyping. Work with Operations to ensure smooth technology transfer and scale-up to commercial scale.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Management, Commercial, Manufacturing, Sourcing and Quality Team Members to ensure the right product is developed correctly and meets the end users’ requirements and expectations.
  • Lead Engineer for Electronic portion of internal and external Quality Audits
  • Leads and directs reports daily activities to complete engineering tasks as well as support broader team.
  • Provides routine project updates to management team as well as when needed as issues arise and provides transparency to the organization on project status.
  • Support a structured approach to product development, with an eye for compliance with the QMS and established NPD processes.
  • Develop project plans and assist with design input definition.
  • Collaborates with external customers and commercial team developing requirements and presenting solutions. Keep internal and external customers informed of project status.
  • Maintains interaction with other departments to solicit and distribute information.
  • Recommends and participates in functional training to advance technical capabilities and will stay current with manufacturing and engineering methods.
  • Mentors, trains and manages workflows of direct reports to support overall project success.
  • Provides technical problem-solving expertise to diverse functions including marketing, sales, manufacturing, quality, and customer support.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments support engineering team processes.


  • 10+ years of engineering development of battery power systems electro/mechanical products and sustaining device experience. Development and commercialization of international medical devices a plus.
  • Electrical, Electronics or SW Engineering Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in transitioning medical and non-medical device product development programs to commercial manufacturing.
  • Strong project leadership skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/initiatives in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Experienced and skilled in building, leading and mentoring teams.
  • Knowledge of medical device regulations and related standards (g., EN61000, ISO 13485, IEC 60601-1-2) a plus
