Operations Manager – Non-destructive Testing – Western Region
Operations Manager
This position is with a $1.5B+ management services group to the energy, power, utility and infrastructure markets. This group has recently launched a Non destructive testing business that is growing rapidly and needs more leadership. This is an Operations Manager role that will cover the west coast. The role will be accountable for the overall business segment and responsible for growing and building the region. It will report to the VP of the business unit.
Geography – The ideal candidate is located in the western part of the country with the ability to travel
Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management: Oversee Account and Project Managers, Technicians, and other support staff within the business unit.
- Program Development: Key contributor in creating service programs, including developing procedures and work instructions.
- Business Practices: Implement and maintain sound business practices.
- Strategic Objectives: Develop and implement strategic objectives for the team, aligned with the Business Unit’s initiatives.
- Safety Training: Ensure safety of assigned staff, including providing safety training for field personnel.
- Guidance & Counseling: Offer guidance and counseling to field and supervisory personnel.
- Certification Verification: Confirm technician certifications/qualifications before assigning field work.
- Scheduling: Manage scheduling of technicians and equipment for projects.
- Field Assistance: Assist technicians in the field as necessary, and act as lead technician during field work and on-the-job training sessions.
- Quality Standards: Ensure quality standards are met and manage the quality program.
- Financial Analysis: Consolidate and analyze profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates, and utilization within assigned responsibilities.
- Forecasting: Help create segment forecasts and a broad-based financial outlook for the assigned area.
- Financial Objectives: Ensure the assigned area meets or exceeds budgeted financial objectives, including revenue and margin leadership.
- Team Leadership: Provide inspiration, clarity, and direction to the team, helping them understand their roles and accountabilities.
- Team Approach: Promote a team approach on both customer projects and internal initiatives.
- Support & Input: Solicit and support input from team members at all levels within the organization.
- Revenue Forecasting: Accurately forecast revenue, profitability, margins, bill rates, and utilization.
- Contract Negotiation: Provide guidance to the team in negotiating contract pricing, terms, and conditions.
- Status Reports: Review status reports from Account and Project Managers and address issues as appropriate.
- Expertise Sharing: Share expertise with internal teams and task forces.
- Policy Enforcement: Enforce standard policies and procedures.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Experience:
- Pipeline Integrity NDE/NDT and Operation Manager experience.
- Demonstrated capability to perform the responsibilities of a Business Line Manager effectively.
- Management or supervisory experience preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Customer Management:
- Communicate effectively with key customers to identify future needs and position the company to capitalize on these opportunities.
- Continuously define ways to increase customer satisfaction and deepen customer and market relationships.
- Ensure the delivery of superior solutions to customers.
- Coordinate with Business Development and Project Directors/Managers to provide leadership and guidance throughout the sales cycle with existing customers.
- Collaborate with Business Development to identify strategic accounts and play an active role in developing these accounts.
