ROLE PURPOSE/ POSITION SUMMARY
Project Engineer
Manage small to medium engineering projects; participate as a team member on large projects. Lead the team through scope definition, design, budgeting, scheduling, line layouts, purchasing, cost estimating and control, implementation, system integration, documentation, report writing, start-up, training processes and handing the line over to production at target metrics.

Key Accountabilities/Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end project planning, risk identification, dependency tracking, issue escalation, and change management, adhering to best practice project management standards.
- Manage project management and engineering for manufacturing operations, including scope definition, design, budgeting, scheduling, line layouts, purchasing, cost estimation and control, implementation, system integration, documentation, report writing, start-up, and training.
- Apply knowledge of safety principles and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for the food industry to engineering projects.
- Utilize company-standard project management tools and processes for safety, sanitary design, controls, Equipment Acceptance Testing, and Start-up/Validation documentation.
- Adapt to flexible working hours and multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high-pressure environment, handling shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
- Oversee schedules, costs, and other key deliverables according to the approved project plan.
- Identify, evaluate, and communicate project risks.
- Select and manage external engineering resources to meet customer, product, and capacity requirements.
- Oversee the use of external vendors and contractors for engineering and maintenance projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and contractors.
- Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
- Resolve and/or escalate issues to management promptly.
- Effectively facilitate project team meetings.
- Ensure proper documentation of project activities according to company project management standards.
- Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders and relevant staff on project progress.
- Stay updated on industry technology enhancements.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both in writing and verbally.
- Develop projects and justifications for capital improvements as needed.
- Support cost reduction and efficiency improvement programs by participating in and leading teams to review manufacturing operations, develop and implement solutions, facilitate improvement workshops, and manage improvement projects.
- Provide training and development support to other engineering team members, assist on engineering projects, and offer specialized expertise as needed.
- Serve as the primary technical expert for assigned facilities, building credibility and influence with Operations, Maintenance, Customers, and vendors, and provide leadership and guidance to Maintenance Technicians.
Qualifications/Capability Profile
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Project Management – Required
Minimum Experience
- Working knowledge of lean principles – Required
- Experience in a high growth and dynamic environment – Required
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar software – Required
- Previous contract manufacturing experience – Desired
- Experience in the food industry or short-life environment – Desired

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that end-to-end project planning, risk identification, dependency tracking, issues identification / escalation, and change management are being managed, utilizing best practice project management standards.

- Support other engineering team members with training and development, assistance on engineering projects, providing specialized expertise as required.
- Serve as prime technical expert for assigned facilities. Build credibility and hold influence with Operations, Maintenance, Customers, and vendors. Provide leadership and guidance to Maintenance Technicians.
