RCM EPIC Trainer

This position is with one of the largest multi-specialty physician groups in the country. It is Chicagoland based and also one of the fastest growing networks in the country. This group is currently building out it’s RCM department and is in need of a Principal EPIC trainer. The Principal Trainer will be the content expert for their respective application(s). Responsible for mastering an Epic application. They develop and lead the implementation of the training program and associated training materials for their respective application(s) in coordination with other Principal Trainers for applications that share a portion of the end user’s workflow. The training program should meet initial and ongoing training needs and support usability (i.e. proficiency) program led by the Epic Training Team Manager. Training methods may include classroom, web-based learning, remote instruction, one-on-one coaching, and a variety of written material.

Under the direction of the CDIS Manager, staff conducts concurrent reviews of outpatient medical records before the patient is seen as well as works with clinicians concurrently to guide and educate. This position collaborates with providers and coding teams to deliver education on documentation best-practices that result in accurate, comprehensive medical records that reflect the diagnoses for the patient and supports patient care and correct reimbursement.

Geography – Chicagoland based – 4 days in office, 1 WFH

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute comprehensive training programs for designated application(s).
  • Construct, test, and manage the Epic training environment.
  • Develop and maintain all training materials, ensuring relevance and accuracy.
  • Train and credential additional classroom trainers for end-user training.
  • Collaborate with IT Management, Operations Management, and Epic application analysts to create tailored training for end users, including physicians, mid-levels, and staff.
  • Coordinate training for new software releases, updates, and system enhancements.
  • Act as a liaison between the build team and end users, addressing concerns and facilitating effective communication.
  • Provide the Project Management team with identified risks and concerns, contributing to project success.
  • Participate in special projects as needed and perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Identify and address performance gaps, raising issues and concerns promptly.
  • Monitor training environment and curriculum issues due to upgrades or other factors, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Assist in implementing change requests to existing applications and educate end-users on changes.
  • Follow established program and departmental policies, procedures, and technical standards.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Analyze assessment data to determine and meet the educational needs of adult learners.
  • Conduct bi-monthly new employee orientation classes.
  • Develop and deliver training for new system modules, enhancements, and operational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Epic analyst team to test, develop, and deliver training materials for system upgrades and updates.
  • Work with subject matter experts, champions, and super users to resolve issues supporting training and education.
  • Be available on-call for system upgrades, go-lives, and departmental needs.
  • Assist with Help Desk tickets.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience with healthcare information systems, preferably Epic Systems.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, self-motivating, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience in assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating training needs.
  • Familiarity with adult education and best practices for adult learning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cohesive team, contributing to team development and dynamics.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Epic Curriculum Certification.
  • Epic Training Environment Certification (TED300).
