Senior Manager of Mergers and Acquisitions

This role is with a Private equity backed, Chicago-based company that is highly acquisitive. This role will be the internal M&A lead for the organization and will be a key partner to the CEO and CFO

Geography: This is a Chicago based company. The ideal candidate is located within the region or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities:

Support the Company’s M&A function with an emphasis toward:

  • Supporting the senior management team in business development, execution and integration activities for the business. Execute on an acquisition strategy plan and roadmap integrated to the long term business strategies and capabilities.
  • Develop an objective, consistent, disciplined approach to evaluating and integrating potential acquisitions and business combinations.
  • Analyze addressable markets and work with business unit leaders and functional specialists to develop and/or update.
  • Support in the sourcing of acquisition targets, including working with buy-side brokers and managing the deal pipeline consistent with the Company’s strategic objectives.
  • Create a business case for each potential transaction.
  • Identify and quantify synergy opportunities with potential acquisitions; work with senior leadership team to create action plans to drive integration and synergies post close.
  • In conjunction with financial sponsor, lead merger and acquisition transactions through the cross-functional due diligence process including gathering and leveraging integration planning inputs in order to support successful integration.
  • Interact regularly with third-party advisors (legal, financial, tax, consultants)
  • Lead and coordinate the post-acquisition integration initiatives ensuring a successful “first 90-days” post-close. The candidate will be actively involved in post close cross functional project execution

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required. MBA is a plus.
  • 3-7 years of results-oriented work experience in similar role including corporate development, private equity, investment banking and consulting.
  • Experience and ability to model and synthesize complex financial analysis, operational, and KPI data into concise presentations and decision framework, on a regular basis.
  • Experience in small to mid-cap deals working with founder owned and led business is a plus
  • Experience in leading mergers and acquisitions review and execution, analyzing business proposals, and leading due diligence process. Experience working through integration is a plus
  • Experience in corporate development, M&A or strategy.
  • Strong analytical skills, with extreme attention to detail, accuracy and accountability balanced with sound business judgment.
  • Strong project management skills, including ability to execute on detailed plans and timelines
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to work in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent professional written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
