A thriving global Tier One supplier specializing in Acoustic and Soft Trim products for the automotive sector is actively seeking a dedicated and driven Tooling Technician to join our manufacturing team in Salem, VA. This position offers opportunities for both 1st Shift and 2nd Shift roles, with flexibility being a key requirement. We welcome applications from candidates open to relocation.

Responsibilities and Job Requirements:

Conduct daily shop inspections and perform preventive maintenance tasks.
Utilize metal fabrication and welding skills (Stick, MIG, TIG) with proficiency in welding aluminum and steel.
Ensure all tasks are executed safely, adhering to safety rules and company policies.
Prepare and set up molds for each mold change, maintaining thermoplastic molds to ensure consistent quality, output, and yield.
Complete daily mold change sheets and necessary paperwork.
Participate in all PPS activities as directed by Supervisors.
Communicate effectively with production team members, Team Leaders, Engineers, and Inspectors to ensure quality mold installation.
Troubleshoot mold issues and perform preventive maintenance on injection mold tooling.
Remove and install Hot Runner Service as needed.
Support Engineers with tool design reviews for new builds and determine feasibilities of engineering changes during design review.
Must possess own tools.

(Note: Additional duties may be assigned to support team objectives.)

Skills and Qualifications:

Experience working with large presses.
Proficiency in injection molding and troubleshooting.
Strong skills in metal fabrication and welding.

Description

Our client is a growing global Tier One supplier of Acoustic and Soft Trim products to the automotive industry is seeking a motivated and committed Tooling Technician for the manufacturing operations in Salem, VA for 1st Shift and 2nd Shift – flexibility is required / open to relocation applicants.

Perform daily shop inspections and preventive maintenance
Exposure to metal fabrication, welding (Stick, MIG and TIG)
Ability to weld aluminum and steel
Performs all tasks in a safe manner
Comply with safety rules and company policies
Set-Up and get molds ready for each mold change
Maintain thermoplastic molds to ensure consistent quality, output and yield
Complete daily mold change sheets and other required paperwork
Complete/participate in any and all PPS activities as directed by Supervisors
Communicate effectively with production team member, Team Leaders, Engineers, and Inspectors to ensure quality installation of molds
Troubleshoot issues with the molds
Perform preventive maintenance on injection mold tooling and prior to mold changes
Trouble shoot any problems involved with mold changes
