Vice President, Portfolio Valuations and Analytics
One of the top investment groups in the world is looking for a Vice President to join the Value Creation Team (“VCT”) within their Private Equity Group (“PEG”). The VCT’s core mission is to create value across their portfolio companies and optimize the performance of the Private Equity funds. The VCT is responsible for supporting the identification and prioritization of key value drivers in partnership with deal teams and management, aligning talent to the key value drivers, monitoring performance of portfolio companies, supporting capital deployment efforts, and driving fund-level analytics. The VCT consists of highly experienced professionals, including former executives at successful private equity-backed companies, advisors at top consulting firms, and former investment professionals. This role will be focused on portfolio monitoring, fund-level analytics and executing the performance management function internally. This is an exciting opportunity to join a lean team with high visibility into senior private equity leadership.
Geography – The offices are located in LA and the right candidate will be expected to be in-office 4 days a week.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the deal team and value creation team to establish and oversee the PE Performance Management System.
- Track, analyze, and report on portfolio company performance, driving the PEG portfolio review process for optimized value creation.
- Develop and communicate intricate fund return forecast models, providing insights on portfolio construction and monetization timing.
- Analyze and formulate recommendations for portfolio construction, buy/sell decisions, and other critical investment choices.
- Manage and mentor a team of junior support staff, ensuring effective execution of the Performance Management System.
- Regularly assess the efficiency of existing processes, propose improvements, and implement enhancements.
- Support fundraising workstreams, handle LP requests/reporting, and collaborate across functional teams.
- Prioritize and manage workstreams across various stakeholders and functional groups.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Private Equity leadership, deal teams, Value Creation Team, Investor Relations, Finance & Accounting, and ESG.
Qualifications:
The VCT seeks self-motivated individuals with a strong interest in Private Equity, demonstrating:
- Strong analytical skills and adaptability in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of relevant experience within a private equity firm and/or investment bank.
- Proficient in financial modeling and private equity fund modeling.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Solid understanding of key financial, accounting, and private equity concepts.
- Familiarity with valuation methodologies and PE return concepts (IRR, MIC, DPI, etc.).
- Experience evaluating the performance of private equity portfolio companies.
- Intimate knowledge and understanding of the Private Equity industry.
- Experience with iLevel software is a plus but not required.
- Experience within private equity secondaries is a plus but not required.
